(GRCAM vs. The Preachers of L.A.)

Preachers of L.A. is a reality television series that chronicles the lives of three Bishops and three Pastors from their work within the church to their personal lives at home.  Here’s the cast Bishop Clarence McClendon, Pastor Deitrick Haddon, Pastor Jay Haizlip, Bishop Noel Jones, Bishop Ron Gibson, and Pastor Wayne Chaney.  Last year I watched the first episode of The Preachers of L.A. I was stunned by the interaction between Pastor Deitrick Haddon and Bishop Clarence McClendon about “what’s wrong with the church” when he is shown throughout the episode as someone who fell and then seeks redemption. The church didn’t cause his downfall it was his actions that lead to his falling from grace.  It seems like TV producers prefer to see African-Americans clashing which will boots there ratings.
Throughout the show I saw Bentleys and Rolls Royces and Hummers and other luxury cars it was so prevalent that it overshadowed things like Pastor Deitrick Haddon’s rehearsal or Bishop Ron Gibson’s interaction with the gang community of L.A. which I thought was the best part of the show. The average church in America is less than 125 persons strong and most of them don’t have 2 or 3 collection streams as Pastor Deitrick Haddon was discussing and that conversation bothered me.  It gives preachers a bad reputation that people only go into the ministry just to generate one or many collection streams and for the fame. I’m saddened by this series and personally, I think it was a big mistake.
The lavish L.A. preachers’ lifestyles; driving Ferraris, living in nice houses are not the people who dedicate their lives to God. The mission is about serving God and serving people. I was shock by the way the ministers flaunt their wealth.  Accumulation of wealth seemed to be their goal.  I didn’t get the impression they were trying to win souls for Christ. Prosperity preachers has lead people down the wrong path.  You would have never seen the Apostle Paul, or Peter dressed in flashy clothing or driving a fancy car it demeans the church. This is why the church is in the condition that it’s in, because the church leadership has aligned itself with the world. The preachers have more to lose than to gain on this show.
Prosperity gospel, the health and wealth gospel, or the gospel of success is a Christian religious doctrine that financial blessing is the will of God for Christians, and that faith, positive speech, and donations to Christian ministries will always increase one’s material wealth. Based on non-traditional interpretations of the Bible, often with emphasis on the Book of Malachi, the doctrine views the Bible as a contract between God and humans: if humans have faith in God, he will deliver his promises of security and prosperity. Confessing these promises to be true is perceived as an act of faith, which God will honor.
It was during the Healing Revivals of Billy Graham that prosperity theology first came to prominence in the United States. The prosperity teaching later figured prominently in the Word of Faith movement and 1980s televangelism. In the 1990s and 2000s, it was adopted by influential leaders in the Charismatic Movement and promoted by Christian missionaries throughout the world, sometimes leading to the establishment of mega-churches. Prominent leaders in the development of prosperity theology include E. W. Kenyon, Oral Roberts, A. A. Allen, Robert Tilton, T. L. Osborn, Joel Osteen, Creflo Dollar, and Kenneth Hagin. Churches in which the prosperity gospel is taught typically set aside extended time to teach about giving and request donations from the congregation, encouraging positive speech and faith. Prosperity churches often teach about financial responsibility.
In contrast, the Grass Roots Community Activist Movement is a Christian Socialist organization. A Christian socialist is a form of socialism based on the teachings of Jesus. Many Christian socialists believe that capitalism is idolatrous and rooted in greed, social inequality, and institutionalized racism which most Christian denominations consider a mortal sin.  Prosperity theology is considered heresy to me and other leaders in the Pentecostal and Charismatic movements, as well as other Christian denominations. It is irresponsible, promotes idolatry, and is contrary to scripture.

I am also a social entrepreneur. A social entrepreneur are people who tries to solve social, cultural, and environmental issues. Some of my Christian friends ask me why do I include secular people on my friends list? I explain to them that we as Christians should focus on what we stand for: love, compassion, social justice, and liberation theology. Jesus commanded us to be a witness to others not just for us to read his word, but to activate social change in the world according to Luke 4:18-19.  The goal of GRCAM is to provide goods and services to the low income African American communities and working directly with single black mothers, single black fathers, and low income two parent families within the communities and cities we will serve.  We will offer a second chance program to ex-offenders, former gang members, and the homeless. They will offer private employment within my organization to our clients and members based on our budget and sponsorship.

Our agenda is to end urban violence,  gun violence, poverty, structural inequality, institutionalized racism, and police brutality within the communities and cities we will serve if given a chance.  For twenty two years my vision to improve Urban America has been rejected by established black organizations and also by the black church in my former community and in my current community and yet Chicago remains the murder capital in America this is unacceptable Black America! Since I lack the manpower and the capital to jump start my business I decided to write my story “The Solution For Black America: Reclaiming, Rebuilding, And Restoring The Urban Ghettos In America” Second Edition.

If at least half of the people on my Facebook page and my Google Plus page would purchase my book and agree with my vision to improve Urban America I can jump start my organization in a month and also have it up and running in ten cities within six months. It’s not my fault and it’s not God’s fault that GRCAM is not up and running people have free will.  I can back up my claims to the fullest once I have my team in place which is thirty people who are brave enough and smart enough to be on my team for those persons to make themselves known to me or if my book was on the best sellers list which will allow me to hire my management team so that I can move my organization from behind a computer and never have to see these passive spectators again in Jesus name.
