(Building GRCAM From The Ground UP)

My name is Emmanuel Barbee, I am the founder and president of the Grass Roots Community Activist Movement. I created “GRCAM” on November 10th 1991 on a site called Gopher. My focus then was on inner city youth and their families who I believe are entitled to respect, basic resources, and safety in their own community. I wanted to create a space to empower black students on campus to share our experience, exchange ideas, and answer questions about our beliefs, and grapple with ethical problems we never considered before attending college. Today I have broaden my perspective that is to connect with other like minded progressive African Americans who are spiritually minded and business oriented in order for us to take the lead to rebuild our urban communities in America. Through GRCAM I want to build long term alliances with the African Immigrant community, the Afro Brazilian community, and the Afro Caribbean community. I also want to include our Nonblack sympathizers who are interested in working with us to solve black issues head on. In addition, I welcome all Christian denominations, moderate Muslims, and secular people to join this new movement in Urban America.

The Grass Roots Community Activist Movement is based on my revised book “The Solution For Black America: Reclaiming, Rebuilding, And Restoring The Urban Ghettos In America” second edition. GRCAM is currently a virtual Christian socialist organization. Christian socialism is a form of socialism based on the teachings of Jesus. We believe capitalism is idolatrous and rooted in greed, which some Christian denominations consider a mortal sin. The cause of social inequality is due to capitalism. We will focus on what we stand for: love, compassion, social justice, and liberation theology. Jesus commanded us to be a witness to others not just for us to read his word, but to activate social change in the world according to Luke 4:18-19. GRCAM will be committed to the healing ministry of Jesus by showing compassion to inner city youth and their families which will promote dignity to the people and community we will serve.

What sets GRCAM apart from other black organizations is that I have a similar vision that Nehemiah had to rebuild the city and the entrepreneur sense as our forefathers had during Black Wall Street. It’s my hope that through my revised book I will come in contact with Angel Investors, Business Partners, Christian Entrepreneurs, and Social Entrepreneurs who will work with me in starting my For-Profit business in Chicago. I also hope that my hope that my revised book I will come in contact with Donors, Philanthropist, and Sponsors who will work with me in starting my Non-profit organization in Chicago. GRCAM will provide a comprehensive array of programs and services in the areas of health, housing, jobs and social justice within the communities we will serve.

I want everyone in America to know my story and I encourage those of you who are concerned about my cause (Help Stop The Genocide In American Ghettos) by purchasing my revised book “The Solution For Black America: Reclaiming, Rebuilding, And Restoring The Urban Ghettos In America” second edition. The proceeds will go towards me hiring qualified people to assist me with the daily operations of my Christian organization the Grass Roots Community Activist Institute.

The Mission

To end urban violence, poverty, structural inequality, institutionalized racism, and police brutality within the communities and cities we will serve if given a chance. The Grass Roots Community Activist Institute aspires to the healing mission of Christ on both the Westside and Southside of Chicago. I am using the only tools available to me to get my story out to the public my Youtube videos, my Social Groups, my Blog Postings, and my Blogtalkradio show. The only thing which is preventing me from turning my virtual Christian organization into a real business is the lack of manpower and the capital this is why I keep re-emphasizing my revised book.
